What will you be working on at Basic Pharma?
A Product Development Laboratory Technician level is able to perform various analytical work according to protocol on drug product formulation, packaging, intermediates (bulk analysis) and finished products. The individual is also trained for the execution of analytical method validation and under supervision writes analytical study protocol and reports. The lab technician objectively reports analytical findings according to internal procedures, work instructions or protocols according to current GMP standards.
Within Basic Pharma Technologies you have the freedom to help develop and experiment under non-GMP, while simultaneously preparing the analyses methods for analysis under full GMP and facilitate the technology transfer to Quality Control (QC). Learn to execute a diverse portfolio of analysis techniques such as HPLC to determine the quantity and quality of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and excipients and to check for impurities, forced degradation studies, spray pattern, droplet size distribution, cascade impaction, delivered dose uniformity, container closure integrity, drop tests, temperature cycling etc. Work with complex formulations with sometimes multiple Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and excipients, requiring non-standardized sample preparations. And you will see the product you analyzed and helped develop come to market (including grocery stores, drug stores, pharmacies, clinical studies, other countries, and more)!
- Keep data records up to date for documents, equipment and methods that are needed to work in the analytical laboratories;
- (Re)qualify analytical equipment;
- Check, monitor and improve the tidiness of the laboratories;
- Register, administrate and purchase incoming chemicals and reagents;
- Prepare samples for analysis (sample preparation);
- Prepare and send out samples for external services (contract analysis);
- Report practical information during execution (dilutions, equipment IDs, sample IDs, and used chemical IDs) in laboratory journals according to procedure;
- Independently operate analytical equipment;
- Retrieve raw data from analytical equipment and prepare them for reporting in templates (spreadsheets, fill-in forms etc.);
- Peer review analytical data;
- Under supervision write analytical study protocols and reports;
- Detect, escalate and under supervision facilitate the root cause analysis of deviations and out of specifications;
- Perform daily operational tasks like cleaning, (chemical) waste disposal, replenish disposable and material stock;
- Perform analytical method validation activities under supervision;
- Prepare and validate analytical spreadsheets under supervision used for analytical data reporting purpose.
Authorized to:
- Address colleagues in a constructive way if the tidiness of the laboratories is unsatisfactory;
- After documented training, analytical equipment operate independently.
Responsibilities:
- Keep the laboratories in the tidiest conditions;
- Make use of personal protective equipment;
- Work safely in the laboratories for yourself, and others;
- Read all necessary safety documents like MSDS before working with pharmaceuticals;
- Assist and train other colleagues once you have developed expertise in certain methods and/or equipment;
- Objectively take notes in the laboratory notebook while executing experiments;
- Document everything according to Good Documentation Practices.
What do you bring:
- Basic command of the English language in word and letter;
- Intermediate level of Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word);
- HBO with ≥2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry;
- MSc with ≤2 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry;
- Experience in GMP is a plus;
- Experience with HPLC is a plus.
